Details for the  2012 “Chase the Tornado” 10k Run

Well marked and accurate, this 10K circuit was designed for runners. 95 entrants
flew straight down Main Street, through open countryside, alongside the Grand
River, over bridges and 1.6 km of rail trail. Great prizes, medals 3 deep, Brooks tech

it was all good.  Winner's time was 36:15.  You'll want to run  Chase  the Tornado

Hidden away from the bustle of big cities and off the commuter corridors
lies the quiet community of Grand Valley.
Originating in the highlands of Dufferin County, the largest river within
Ontario's borders snakes its 300 kilometer journey to Lake Erie.

One Friday afternoon 25 years ago a deadly tornado cut through Grand
Valley, tearing straight down Amaranth Street and heading east.

Running on the same path as that tornado, we will follow a scenic 10
kilometer route crossing the Grand River 4 times via 3 different bridges.

The Toronto Grey and Bruce Railway line paralleled the River, operating
from 1870 till 1984.  The
Upper Grand Trailway Association now
maintains this rail trail which provides over a kilometer of our route.
